What You’ll Do

Learn how to masterfully decorate cakes in this culinary lesson.

Impress your dinner guests with a beautifully decorated cake using the skills learned in this interactive online cake decorating cooking class. From the comfort of your own kitchen, a five-star chef will virtually guide you through the essentials of cutting, layering and properly icing a cake, starting with a crumb coat.

You'll practice your piping techniques using star and round tips to create stunning designs, adding a personal touch to your cake. Along the way, you'll gain confidence in your decorating skills and pick up professional tips to elevate your creations. By the end of the class, you’ll be ready to craft cakes worthy of a five-star bakery!

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

  • Unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • Egg whites
  • Sugar

  • Stand mixer or hand mixer (whisk attachment, extra bowl needed for a hand mixer)
  • Whisk
  • Sauce pan or pot for water bath
  • Serrated knife (large)
  • Piping bags
  • Piping tip (star & round tip,
  • Rubber band or bag clip
  • Turn table or lazy susan
  • 8 or 10 in cake board
  • Straight cake spatula
  • Rubber/silicone spatula
  • Parchment paper or silicone mat

Prep Work Details

A 6 or 8 inch cake must be baked and fulled cooled down before the beginning of class. Height of the cake should be at least 3 inches tall. Mise en place, all ingredients for buttercream must be measured out before class starts.
