Taco Bell Nuggets: What We Know So Far

Famous for experimenting with bold flavors and exciting combinations, there have been several new Taco Bell items on the menu this year. Nacho fries with a special vegan sauce became the chain’s first vegan offering to be available nationwide, while toasted breakfast tacos became an early morning hit.

While these additions are all firm favorites, there’s one snack that’s been a notable exception from the Taco Bell menu, as you’ll know if you’ve ever asked, "Does Taco Bell have chicken nuggets?" This could all change soon however, as, according to a post by fast food Instagrammer Markie Devo, Taco Bell chicken nuggets could be making their nationwide debut on December 19th, 2024.

This follows a successful Taco Bell chicken nugget trial period in outlets in Texas and Minnesota, which created a lot of online hype among foodie fans. The test nuggets received very positive feedback and some tasters even ruffled a few feathers by claiming that Taco Bell chicken nuggets are better than the nuggets at two of the most famous fast food outlets — McDonalds and Chick-fil-A.

The addition of Taco Bell chicken nuggets sees T Bell follow other major fast food brands that have added more chicken products to their menus. For example, the McDonald's Chicken Big Mac was released in October 2024 as a twist on the classic beef version.

In fact, this is not the first chicken addition to the Taco Bell menu. Some folks might remember the Naked Chicken Chips from 2017. Despite popularity with fans and an online petition to bring them back, they failed to find a permanent home, but chicken nuggets could be a whole other story. 

How Much Will Taco Bell Chicken Nuggets Cost?

During the testing period, a serving of five Taco Bell chicken nuggets with one dipping sauce cost between $3.99 and $4.99 while a 10-piece nugget portion with two sauces cost between $6.99 and $8.99, depending on the location. There’s been no confirmation on the price of Taco Bell chicken nuggets yet, but it’s possible that pricing will be similar; be sure to look out for any special deals available through Taco Bell Rewards.  

What Makes Taco Bell Chicken Nuggets Unique?

Taco Bell is big on spice and it will come as no surprise that Taco Bell chicken nuggets are full flavor. The nuggets are made from all-white chicken breast meat that has been marinated in a spiced jalapeño buttermilk before being breaded in a crispy tortilla chip coating and fried.

Adding an extra dimension of taste to the nuggets will be two dipping sauces: the Bell Sauce and the jalapeño honey mustard sauce. Among the lucky first-testers of Taco Bell chicken nuggets, the Bell sauce has been a ringing hit. Featuring tomatoes, red chile and onions, it’s a great contrast to the salty nugget and has been likened to the famous Chick-fil-A sauce. 

The jalapeño honey mustard sauce is a sweet and spicy option that customers love, especially those who enjoy the "swicy" trend. There are also rumors that a nacho cheese sauce could be added to the menu with Taco Bell chicken nuggets, creating what some food bloggers have dubbed a "holy trinity" of sauces.

If you think that the chicken nuggets at Taco Bell would be perfect with the brand’s beloved, but discontinued Lava Sauce, then good news. You can recreate this sauce using tips from the Taco Bell secret menu. Simply mix two or three sachets of Fire sauce into an order of nacho cheese and abracadabra — you’ve got a magical complement to your nuggets.

We haven’t been lucky enough to try chicken nuggets at Taco Bell yet but those who have report a juicy interior with a satisfyingly crunchy coating. There’s speculation that Taco Bell will make a chicken nugget meal deal with fries, but we think they’d be excellent alongside some of the healthiest items at Taco Bell too, such as the black beans and rice. 

Does Taco Bell Have Chicken Nuggets Yet?

There are no Taco Bell chicken nuggets yet so unless you’re a resident in one of the areas where the nuggets have been tested pre-release (Minneapolis and Houston), you won’t have had a chance to try them. They were also a popular addition to Taco Bell’s Live Màs event in Las Vegas earlier in the year. However, the rest of the country could be enjoying crispy nuggets soon if they get added to the menu at selected locations.

Be aware that nugget availability could differ depending on specific Taco Bell chicken nugget locations. There’s been no official statement from Taco Bell yet but it’s expected that they’ll release more details soon.

Taco Bell Chicken Nuggets Release Date 

While it hasn’t been officially confirmed by Taco Bell, it seems that the Taco Bell chicken nuggets release date will be December 19th, 2024. It’s expected that Taco Bell will confirm this soon so we’ll have to wait with bated breath and napkins for saucy fingers at the ready for official information.

It’s likely that Taco Bell chicken nuggets will only be available for a limited time so nugget lovers will want to nab a serving or two while they can. But who knows? If the nuggets prove to be a customer favorite, it’s possible they’ll find a permanent home among the most popular Taco Bell items.

Which Locations Will Have Taco Bell Chicken Nuggets? 

Previously, Taco Bell chicken nuggets were only released as part of a trial in a few selected regions including Minneapolis in 2023 and Houston in early 2024. A December rollout could see chicken nuggets being added to more of the 8,000 Taco Bell restaurants across the country, although there are no exact details at this time.

If this launch is successful, it’s possible that Taco Bell chicken nuggets could be rolled out worldwide. After all, the chain has locations across 30 countries around the world!

Does Taco Bell have chicken nuggets? It looks like the answer to this question will very soon be yes! While there’s been no official confirmation on when Taco Bell chicken nuggets will be joining the menu, reports on the internet speculate that they’ll be joining the Bell family in late December 2024.

Pre-release tests in Houston and Minneapolis have been very positive, with many fans claiming that Taco Bell chicken nuggets are the equal of nuggets at Chick-fil-A, Popeyes and even McDonald’s.
