Indian cuisine has a fiery reputation for taking spicy to a whole new level incomprehensible by those who were born to be mild. But in this hands-on class, Chef Mukti breaks down Indian cuisine's spicy stereotype and shows you that there are thousands of vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian dishes that are perfectly mild.
Chef Mukti will guide you through preparing a spice-forward, yet completely mild five-course Indian menu. From curries to kabobs, Chef Mukti will teach you the techniques and skills needed to prepare an array of deliciously mild Indian dishes.
Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.
Coastal Shrimp Curry
With coconut and aromatic Indian spices
Kashmiri Lamb Kabob
Minced lamb with marinated masala
Mung Lentil Curry
Small mung lentil cooked with peas and coconut
Dahi Okra
Cooked with onion, ginger and yogurt masala
Pulao
Basmati rice with carrots, peas, onion and cashews

Meet your chef
Chef Mukti grew up in India, learning the art of cooking from her mother, aunts, and grandmothers. Chef Mukti moved to the U.S. in 1986 to work as a biologist and retired in 2006 to pursue her dream to bring the flavors and benefits of Indian cooking to all New Yorkers. Chef Mukti’s impressive Indian cooking classes focus on healthy eating and authentic and modern Indian techniques with adjustments for American kitchens.
