Cooking Class - 5-Day Foodie Fun Teens: International Bakes

What You’ll Do

A 5-day cooking journey to boost the skills of budding chefs.

Designed to help teens become more kitchen savvy, this 5-day cooking series is perfect for kids aged 12 and up. Throughout these daily sessions, budding chefs will grow the skills they need to create recipes from around the world. Students will learn essential kitchen basics, including food prep, health and safety and pro-baking tips, and have a chance to put their skills to the test with a fun mystery cooking challenge before they collect their graduation certificate and a menu of the week’s dishes.

Classes typically run for two to two and a half hours, unless specified otherwise. Group work is a key component; kids can expect to collaborate with four other students. The class involves standing, cooking and active participation throughout. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required and long hair should be securely tied back for safety. Please note that these are drop-off classes. Parents do not stay during the classes.

Disappointing. Not participatory. A lot of standing around, watching, not doing. No control over class. Nowhere near as good as paella class I took. I actually left.

We were very excited to learn how to make ramen from scratch last week. However sadly we were very disappointed. The menu stated we would learn how to make ramen noodles, the pork belly, pickled mushrooms, the perfect ramen egg, edamame with chilli salt and a Japanese mint soda. However the only thing we physically did ourselves was make the noodles - which was a cool experience for sure, but then everything else was prepared for us and we were just given everything as a finished product! And we didn’t get to make the mint soda at all. The whole class was highly unorganised and it felt like we just spent $90 for a recipe that we didn’t fully learn from in the first place

Chef Julie is so knowledgeable and very thorough with her explanations of the many steps to the tamale production. A lot was going on in that kitchen last night and she was on top of everything.
