Cooking Class - 4-Day Foodie Fun Kids: Baking Skills - Naperville

What You’ll Do

Empower your child's culinary prowess and equip them with new skills with this immersive experience.

Children 7-11 will delight in these hands-on summer cooking classes taught by an expert chef. This particular workshop focuses on the art and science of baking and these tiny chefs will work their way through measuring and mixing up doughs and kneading to develop the gluten structure, flipping crêpes and decorating cakes with homemade frosting and delicate lines of royal icing for expert designs. After creating a bounty of patisserie delights, participants will take home a graduation certificate and printed menu to commemorate their successful bakes.

Classes typically run for two to two and a half hours, unless specified otherwise. Group work is a key component; kids can expect to collaborate with four other students. The class involves standing, cooking and active participation throughout. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required and long hair should be securely tied back for safety. Please note that these are drop-off classes. Parents do not stay during the classes.

The evening was great. My girlfriend and I both learned new things about cooking. Neither of us are big cooks, but we now want to cook more often. Chef Jesse made it a fun evening and the food was excellent. We’ll be attending additional classes.

Chef Jesse was great! He was professional and very personable. My wife and I attended the sushi making 101 class, and Chef Jesse provided some great tips and tricks to making/rolling sushi - the number 1 being practice! It's a bit odd to share ingredients with others at your table, but for sushi it was fine and not a big deal. Overall, it was a great - and we took away some great pointers and ideas.
