Craft bakery-fresh treats in this engaging cooking class.
Home bakers and aspiring pastry chefs will love this cooking series. In these five summer cooking classes designed for kids 7-11, a chef instructor will teach recipes and techniques to create bakery-fresh foods. They'll learn how to make a dough from scratch and the technique for kneading it. Plus, they'll bake a delicious cake and use professional techniques to decorate it. Through these classes, they'll learn baking and food prep skills as well as kitchen safety. Students will go home with recipes to recreate the treats for family and friends.
Classes typically run for two to two and a half hours, unless specified otherwise. Group work is a key component; kids can expect to collaborate with four other students. The class involves standing, cooking and active participation throughout. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required and long hair should be securely tied back for safety. Please note that these are drop-off classes. Parents do not stay during the classes.

Meet your chef
Chef Peter's culinary journey may have begun in Northern California, but it's taken him around the U.S., with stops in D.C. and Nantucket. He honed his talent in well-regarded eateries, eventually rising to the level of executive chef. His restaurant experience includes a stint at the Watergate Hotel. Now happily settled in Seattle, Chef Peter is often found sharing his skills in cooking classes and with local and national nonprofits.
