What You’ll Do

Practice the same techniques as the professionals on your quest to a beautiful holiday cake.

Discover the secrets to making a flawless bûche de noël, an iconic holiday dessert famous in French cooking. Make a light, airy batter for a large sponge sheet cake, before forming a roulade with homemade buttercream. Get crafty with marzipan to form festive pine cones and sugared cranberries to top your masterpiece.

Tea, coffee and water will be provided. Guests are welcome to bring non-alcoholic beverages.

This class is suitable for ages 14+ with an adult present. Children under 17 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Class price is per person.

We did the yule log class for a small team outing. Emily was a great teacher, the class was well organized and run, and the cakes we made were incredible.

Although Chef Emily was great and engaging and the food tasted good, the structure of cooking classes at Sur La Table are a little rushed for my taste. There is also no seating when you’re eating your meal and eating standing up isn’t the best. However I really appreciated the technical tips around basic skills like cutting that was part of the course.
